Chatham County, NC New Homes

What is Chatham County Like?
Chatham County covers 709 square miles, and has a population of just over 60,000 - which is just over the population of the neighboring city of Chapel Hill, which has about 50,000 occupants within city limits. The county seat is the small town of Pittsboro, which had just 2500 residents in 2000, but has quietly grown since.
Chatham County consists of gently rolling hills, mostly heavily wooded. There are several wineries, and lots of farmland. Jordan Lake covers much of the eastern side of the county, and is a very popular Raleigh recreation area.
Chatham County residents shop in Pittsboro, Siler City or nearby Apex, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, or Carrboro.
Here's information on just some of the communities with available lots in Chatham County, where you can build a custom home in the Raleigh area.

Cattail Creek - $250s to $350s
Cattail Creek is just northwest of Pittsboro. Lot sizes start at 1.5 acres. Homebuyers must choose from a builder team, but any home plan is possible with approval.
Home sizes generally range from 1600 to nearly 3000 square feet.

Cedar Grove - $400s to $500s
Cedar Grove is just off Hwy 15/501 between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. Lot sizes are 2 acres and up.
Homebuyers must choose from existing builder team. These custom homes offer lots of stone or all-brick exteriors, with home sizes generally over 3000 square feet.

Campbell Shire - Lots Starting at $40K
Campbell Shire is near the intersection of Henderson Tanyard Rd and White Smith Rd, in the Silk Hope area.
Lot sizes range from 2+ to 20+ acres. Pasture land for horses is available on most lots.
Small custom homes neighborhood.

Chatham Forest - High $200s to $350s
Chatham Forest is within Pittsboro, south of Hwy 64 and north of the traffic circle.
Homes are generally in the 1800 to 2400 sq ft range.
Multiple custom home lot options.
Chatham Forest Ridge - $400s to $500s
Chatham Forest Ridge is an extension of the Chatham Forest community.
Lot sizes are about 3/4 of an acre, and most lots are up on a ridge, one of the higher points in Chatham County.

Chapel Ridge Golf Community $400s to $700s
Chapel Ridge is between Hwy 15-501 and Hwy 87, and has Pittsboro's first golf course, along with 790 acres of rolling, wooded countryside.
Lot sizes are mainly 1/3 to 3/4 acres.
Lot costs start from $20K.
Hickory Downs Equestrian Community - $500s to $1,000,000+
Horse facilities on site, most lots allow horses.
Lot size 2-6 acres.
Lot costs start at $65K.
The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Community - $400s to $1,000,000+
Just 5 minutes from Jordan Lake, this golf community is near Apex and Chapel Hill.
Lot sizes are 1/4 to 3/4 acres.
Lot costs start at $75K.
